SUBSTANTIATION

The evidence held to support a claim made in an advert, required regardless of how the advert was produced.

ALSO CALLEDclaim evidenceclaim support

Generative production changes nothing about substantiation and makes it easier to forget, because a model will happily render a certification mark, a percentage or an award that has no basis in anything.

That is why "no invented certification, award, ingredient or percentage" is a hard gate rather than a review note. A frame containing a fabricated claim is killed, and no disclosure rescues it: the problem is the claim, not the production method.

The brief should name which claims the asset must carry and who signs them off, so legal review happens before rendering rather than after.

QUESTIONS PEOPLE ASK

Does disclosing AI use fix an unsubstantiated claim?

No. Disclosure addresses how the content was made. An unsupported claim is unsupported whoever made it and however it was produced.

Why is this a gate rather than a review step?

Because models generate plausible certifications, percentages and awards without being asked. It has to be checked every frame, mechanically, not noticed occasionally.

THEORY IS FREE

Knowing the word is the cheap part.

Running it on a deadline, at volume, without burning the budget is the expensive part. That is the bit we do.
